What We Study

What we study

Our curriculum challenges students to use their imaginations to solve the kind of problems faced by companies in the engineering world every single day.

Shaped by our employer partners and using clean, digital and design technology, our curriculum is designed to tap into every student’s potential, and ignite ideas around their futures.

Year 10 – 11 Curriculum

Pre-16 students follow one of two broad pathways:

In Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4), students spend 60% of their time in core academic lessons: English, maths, sciences, humanities, Spanish and ICT/computer science, alongside enrichment subjects in PE, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and RE.

40% of their time will be focused on technical education in engineering. This is delivered by specialist tutors who will be supported throughout the curriculum by employers, delivering real and relevant experiences to prepare students for work.

For students hoping to start in September 2017, there will be specially designed transition programmes and activities with the opportunity to gain insight and understanding of Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire prior to starting.

Year 12 – 13 Curriculum

Post-16 students follow one of two broad pathways:

In Years 12 and 13 (Key Stage 5), students spend 40% of their time on academic subjects (A Levels) and 60% of their time on technical education: Level 3 Engineering.

They will be exposed to real projects and learn in a different way, suiting both those who wish to excel academically and those who prefer a real-life technical education experience which will prepare them for employment, further education or higher education.
